Instruments: Piano, Voice, Guitar
Experience/Training: My first training in music began with piano lessons at age 5. At age 11, I began learning guitar independently and joined Western’s choir. My guitar education continued throughout high school when I had the opportunity to learn more from Nick Johnson and Gary Rhum. My vocal training continued in Western’s Vocal Jazz Choir in high school. It was also around this time that I began writing, performing, and teaching.  I have also been studying art all of my life both independently and in many classes. I have taken every art class at Western High School, as well as 16 credit hours of Collegiate Art Courses. At Ball State University I studied Business as an Honors Student, all the while continuing to find opportunities to work on my music by practicing, writing, performing, and teaching. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Miller College of Business with degrees in Marketing and Business Administration.
Why I Teach: While I love writing and performing, I have found the most rewarding way for me to share and learn about music has been through teaching. I was lucky to have grown up surrounded by music and art and was always encouraged to pursue my interests. I want to help others have the opportunity to find their voice and express themselves. Being a part of the Rhum Academy Community has helped me to realize that anyone can communicate through music and the arts, and you don’t have to be the world’s greatest musician to reap the many benefits an education in music can provide.
