Jessica Rhum

Experience/Training: I’ve been playing piano since I was 7, and guitar since I was 15. I’ve played music professionally for the last seven years in an acoustic duo with my husband Gary. I started teaching private lessons about 10 years ago. I also taught music at Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick schools for grades K-8th.

Why I teach music : My main goal is for my students to get a sense of personal fulfillment out of playing their instrument and want it to be something that they enjoy doing. I use a combination of classical training including sight reading, chords, and scales with a contemporary element at the same time. Students can learn to play their favorite style of music or some of their favorite songs by their favorite artist. I try to tailor each lesson to fit best what each students learning style and am very open to trying varying techniques to help each student get the most out of their private lesson.
