Instrument: Bass guitar
Experience: I first started taking guitar lessons at Rhum Academy in 2009, and picked up the bass shortly after meeting my instructor. He showed me that it's not the number of strings you have but it is what you do with them. He left me with a deep appreciation for all styles of music as a student at Rhum, and expanded my horizons by introducing me to many phenomenal players such as Jaco Pastorius, Steve DiGiorgio, and Victor Wooten. When I was 16 years old I started a Rock band called 45 to Argos, based in Niles, Michigan. I actively recorded and played live shows with them from 2012-2015. I've gained invaluable experience both on and off the stage, from those talented individuals that I was lucky enough to create music with. Since then, I have been playing music for fun on my own time and have continued setting goals for myself.
Why I teach music: A musical instrument can be intimidating upon first glance, and the road to becoming a confident musician is not an easy one. However, with the right guidance I firmly believe that anyone has what it takes to meet their goals and become the musician they aspire to be. An awesome thing about music is that there is always more to learn. There are many different techniques and styles of playing used in all genres of music, and with an open mind you can draw inspiration from many different players to establish your own identity. I want to create a comfortable environment for my students to grow and get to know each student on a personal level. I hope to share the same burning passion that I have for music with each one of my students.
